Southern Cremations Funerals offers $595 Direct Cremation Services Is cremation becoming more popular in Georgia? ¡Sí! Cremation is becoming an increasingly popular choice over traditional burials. Georgias cremation rate was 44.4% in 2018 and is projected to be 51.5% in 2021. In 2018, 37,520 cremations were performed in Georgia. Why the trend towards cremation? The Cremation Association of North America (CANA) cites research that gives insight into why cremation is increasing nationwide, including: a more transient population, less connection to their geographic origins, exposure to new traditions, less religious (or no) religious affiliation, more immigrants and non-English speakers, and higher incomes and education levels. For some families, cost is a factor in choosing cremation. Others simply prefer cremation over a traditional burial. In the Greater Atlanta area, several cremation centers and funeral homes are advertising low-cost Direct Cremation services. As you consider your options, how do you decide who is offering the greatest value? What questions should you ask a funeral home/cremation center about their services, and what is (and is not included) in their pricing? Questions you should ask a cremation provider: 1) Does the cremation occur on site, at your facility? Many funeral homes pay another provider to complete the cremation for them because they do not own their own crematory. 2) Are all services associated with the cremation performed by your own staff? Si no, ¿por qué? Some providers hire a transportation service to bring a deceased individual into their care versus utilizing their own employees. 3) Does your company charge extra for identification of remains? To date, Southern Cremations Funerals is the only funeral home that does NOT charge extra for identification of remains for families choosing Direct Cremation (for up to 6 family members, for up to 30 minutes) or any of our Cremation Packages. 4) Does your company charge extra for a cremation alternative container? Georgia law requires that an individual must be placed in a container before cremation. Southern Cremations Funerals does not charge extra for a basic container; that cost is included in all our Cremation Packages. 5) In order to get the lowest price, does all coordination for the cremation need to be conducted online? Cant we come into the office to meet with a funeral director? Several cremation providers will only give families their lowest price for cremation if they complete ALL necessary arrangements online. If you desire an in-person meeting with a funeral director, you are bumped up to the next level of services/pricing. Southern Cremations Funerals realizes that most families prefer to make funeral/cremation arrangements in person or may have complications that can be worked through easier by meeting with a funeral director. Most people we meet with have not made funeral arrangements before and need the education and advice that a seasoned funeral director can provide.
